We laid in the meadow, the stars twinkling above our heads. “You ever wonder what is out there?” Anna asked as she pointed to the brightest star in the sky.
“I like to think there are aliens and magical creatures out there, looking out at the stars wondering what is out there” I said with a smile as I turned my head to look at her, letting out a yawn “Though that might be a little stretch. Aliens are overly intelligent; they probably already know that we are out here.”
“You are probably right” Anna said to me as I looked up at the stars, my eyes slowly drifting closed.

When I awoke, I was in a strange house, a long hallway straight ahead of me “Anna?” I said quietly as I stood, looking around. Not seeing Anna, I started to walk down the hallway. Spotting a light green door, I slowly opened it, “Anna?” I asked as the door creaked open to reveal a ballet studio. I stood in the doorway watching my friend Souher teleport into the room. He ran his fingers through his hair before he began to talk to Pomeranians in tutus that were lined up against the wall. He ordered them to do an arabesque and then a pique. I watched them for a moment as the dogs nodded their heads, stood on their hindlegs and obeyed his commands. One of the dogs looking at me and winking as it spun up in the arm. I shook my head in disbelief, slowly closing the door behind me.
What is going on, I wondered as I continued to make my way down the hallway. I walk further down the hallway, stopping at a crisp white door. Wearily, I open the door, shivering as a cold gust of wind blew through the small crack that I had created. I blinked a few times seeing a room full of sparkling, glistening snow. I look around, confused as to why there would be a room full of snow. Rubbing my hands together, I step slowly into the room just as a snowball flies past my face. I step back quickly, my back against the icy cold wall as I spot my two friends, Mary and Safwa, engaged in an intense snowball fight “This is not normal” I say as I back out the door, closing it securely behind me.
I shake my head as I lean against the wall in the hallway, rubbing my hands up and down my arms to warm them up. Determined to find Anna, I continue down the hallway, this time stopping at a bright pink door. “Why would anyone paint a door this color?” I ask as I take the doorknob into my hand.
I turn the knob, pushing the door open as my senses are attacked by the sweet aroma of freshly baked cupcakes. I look around; trying to determine where the smell was coming from, and spot the largest cupcake I had ever seen. The cupcake was as tall as my house and almost as round as the swimming pool we have out back in the summer. Curiously, I step towards the cupcake, dipping my finger in the frosting as someone walked around the cupcake “Lisi!” Ashley exclaimed as she held a tube of frosting in her hand “I never expected you to show up here. Not many people visit me” she said as she continued to work.
“I’m not sure where I am” I admit as I watch her spread the light blue frosting over the spot I had stuck my finger.
“Oh, you are in a world of imagination” she said as if that was the most normal thing in the world “In these rooms, whatever you want can happen. Right now, I must get back to work, the Queen of France wants this cupcake tomorrow and it is nowhere near ready for anyone to see” she added as she disappeared back around the side of the cupcake.
“Queen of France” I mumbled as I took one more look at the cupcake and turned back towards the door. I walked back into the hallway, looking back at the other two doors I had encountered “Onward we go” I said to myself as I took a few more steps down the hall.
I stopped a light blue door, “Maybe this one is it” I shrugged as I put my hand on the cool handle. I hesitantly opened the door, a wall of water standing before me. I shook my head a little, not believing what was right in front of me. As I turned my head to the left, I spotted Tyler animatedly talking to the school of fish surrounding him. I stood in the door, trying to hear what he was telling them, but was unable to hear him above the dull roar of the rushing water. Sighing, not wanting to disturb their conversation, I took a step back and closed the door.
“I really need to find Anna” I said quietly as I looked up and saw how close to the end of the hallway I was. I took a small step towards the door “Last chance” I said as I opened it and stepped in. I could feel the warm sand beneath my feet, the bright sun beating down on my face. I blinked a few times, spotting a figure in the distance “Anna?” I asked as I nervously took a step towards it. I stopped midstep as the figure turned and started walking towards me.
“Lisi! You are just in time” it said as it got closer “I have been waiting for you, what took you so long?” Anna asked, her long dark curls bouncing as she walked to me.
“Waiting for me?” I asked confused as she took my hand “I…well, I’ve been wandering around looking for you” I admit as she pulled me towards a small wooden building. This building was the size of a treehouse, but nestled on the ground near a small patch of roses.
“You always take your time” she laughed as she pulled open the door and lead me into the house. The house consisted of one room that contained only a small table and a stove “Wait here” she said as she pushed me towards the table and left the room again.
“I guess I have nothing else to be doing” I mumbled as I watched her leave the room, resting my head against the cool table “Waiting…” I yawn. The next thing I know, I am waking up in the meadow, the soft chirping of crickets around me. I looked around, spotting Anna laying on the ground next to me, turning her head to look at me as I sit up “You won’t believe what I just saw” I exclaim as she sat up. I watch her stand, following her lead “There was this long hallway…” I trail as we head back to her house.
